im a spokane native visiting family over the x holy days and am curious if there are any burning man type events / parties happening between the 22nd and 27th that will allow me some escape. not looking for anything crazy per se', but just some connections in my home town. i graduated from shadle in 88 and havent stayed in touch with any old friends, so i know no one that could provide a little get away time. if you were at burning man in 2005 or 2006 i may have chatted with you a bit, as i did meet a lot of folks from the spokane area... im an artist with the flaming lotus girls and worked on both the angel of the apocalypse and the serpent mother... spent many nights at these projects "working". but i camped with fandango and did A LOT of bar tending at the BFT. anyway, i never bothered to get contact info for anyone in spokane. burning man is like that. long story short... if there is anything... ANYTHING going on, i would love to hear about it. it may just save my sanity and keep the holy day visit trauma to a minimum.

I see all these incredible houses in Spokane for 75 to 150k and I think, "Looks like a beautiful city, is it liveable?" Are there many jobs? I am assuming y'all get a good deal of snow, which would be strange, but not a deal breaker. We are offbeat people with an appreciation for Ghost World, Elvis Costello, and David Lynch, so a reactionary crowd wouldn't be a good thing. I am just looking to get input on what sort of a town Spokane is. Thanks...

I'm still new to this tribe thing, but I am a nice person, and have the best buses in the world. I use school buses to haul medical and material aid to some of poorest places in the world (Haiti, Chiapas Mexico, El Salvador, and Nicaragua) and buy and sell them, and bus parts to support the project. I take every penny i make and convert it directly back into school supplies, medical supplies, tools, generators, and whatever the folks ask for specifically, (no junk, no used clothing) and then drive it down in person (except Haiti, that's $6000 thru the Panama Canal. Ouch)

I sell buses to folks that are 100% functioning in every way when they leave my hands, and also give any body thirty days to return the bus if unsatisfied. Nobody ever has, but it's OK, I'll just sell it to somebody else. you will also get a lifetime of free advice before and after you get a bus from me, I'm avaiable 7 days a week within reason, and after having dismantled 14 buses, and owning about 60,I am pretty knowledgable about their inner workings. Also got lots of good used bus parts, at the best price anywhere in the US. Ii have no overhead, just my Mazda mini truck and some tools.

I hadnt realized that the putting up of a ceiling would have instigated all new electrical, and all new drywall on everything. PLus the new carpet, etc... Well I had no idea on how to do it, so I asked for help from a Seattle friend. He did me well, but my new Spokane friend did me better. He put ijn all new electrical, plus he is willing to help me install the drywall. I had also met another guy whose doughter goes to school with my son, and he is willing to help as well.

Long story of when why, and how I got to spokane, so I won't relate it. Suffice to say Ive been here for about 3 months and things are going well. Im glad Ive met the people I know, and I hope it keeps on going that way. Coming from Seattle, after 17 years, I had high hopes for Spokane. They have not been met. Im hoping that someone knows of a coffee shop that is within 2 miles of the Garland district that stays open till midnight. or at least 11pm. Im looking for better sushi than Aki's has to offer(yes Ive tried the shogun, not as good). Im looking for a place that sells fine beers(chimay, mcewans, spaten, lindemanns, cantillion, Duchesse la bourngone(sp?), Orchard street, and just about any belgian, or german beer.) or a bar that serves fine beers. Im looking for a better bookstore than Aunties. A better bikeshop than North division bike shop. A better bike trip than Garland.
Im also looking for a job at night, for only a few hours a night, once or twice a week.
Im deep in the middle of remodeling upstairs, so I need drywall. Any one have any to spare?

till later, and remember, Rubber side down.

Portland Santa-Con: Santa's checked his list and you're f***ed
Again this year, I will be busting out my dirty matted santa suit for a saturday of drunken debauchery with the other Santi in Portland for this year's Santarchy, Santacon, whatever the hell you want to call it convention. Please let me explain.

Last year over 150 Santa Clauses in different phases of innebriation descended upon Portland for a night of partying the jolly man would thoroughly disprove of -- our trip included:

-Walkthrough of the Saturday Market.

-Magic Gardens for drinks and strippers.

-Walkthrough Embassy Suites to “worship the tree ”.

-Walkthrough Bancorp ’s Building to confuse Security.

-Walkthrough Powell's ending at the front door- joined the strikers briefly.

-Santa Sack Race at the park blocks in front of Powell's Technical Books.

-Eagles Club for gay bar porn and drinks.

-Ringler ’s for dinner and drinks.

-Fantasy Video to try and find Santa porn.

-Walkthrough Whole Foods Market.

-Hung Far Low for quick appetizers and drinks.

-Walkthrough Pioneer Square and "worship the tree" part two.

-Portland Center Stage to visit the SantaLand Diaries.

-Virginia Caf éfor drinks.

-Stealth Santa Walkthrough at Meyer and Franks (Santa makes it to 10th floor and invade a closed SantaLand exhibit- until they kicked us out). I GOT TO LEAD THE CHARGE ON THIS ONE!

-Talk an out-of-service Max driver into taking Santa to the Chinatown stop.

-Invade the Tube- no drinks, just demanding ice water and martini olives.

-Mary ’s Club for PDX SantaCon traditional drinks and strippers stop.

-Santa Stroll to the Jefferson Theatre to be VERY naughty.

-Out the back door of the Jefferson and into the River City Saloon.

-2 Gyrl ’s performance at the Jasmine Tree.

It's an exhausting, grueling over 12 hour long party that moves, and is honestly the most fun one can have fully clothed in a Santa Suit. Last year, I missed about a third of the event because my train was delayed by a trainwreck. I still caught the bulk of the red menace and drank my way through Portland at the various watering holes we stopped at, or by consuming my tropical blue schnapps convincingly hidden in a Scope bottle. Drunk Santas chugging windex and mouthwash are some of our favorite sight gags. We handed out the most outrageously reengineered toys and naughty and nice stickers to the bad big kids partying -- candy canes to the little ones we happened to encounter.

This year I am organizing a trip down to Portland for Eastern Washington Santi who would like to partake in the gift of the Magi. Since Santacon only visits places that do not necessarily "thoroughly" check ID's, the 18 AND OVER crowd is welcome. Besides, how are they going to know when you're in a Santa suit.

If you are interested let me know. We'll be putting together some pre-funcing events for those interested in coming. If you'd like to see pictures of Santarchy worldwide please go to www.santarchy.com or check out the various santa groups on tribe.com.

Santacon is Sunday December 11th from noon to midnight.

Ho Ho -- will somebody please get me a Ho!?!

so how do we get more people involved in this tribe?

My natural instinct told me to search for my local area when i joined Tribe.net. Are we the only ones in the area that have discovered it? or are people from around here more interested in meeting people from other places.

I have invited a few of my friends but so far no response from any? Does the name Tribe scare people?

this could be a very good thing if it gets off the ground.

Thanks for reading!
