Black and white Media

Does anyone here use black and white as thier media? I am new to digital photography and would welcome any hints tips or advice on the subject? Also I love landscape pictures and will eventully share some of my own, once I am finished moving( long storty, shallow plot). Anyways also wanted to say thanks for leaving this tribe open...
